MEDITATIVE LIBRARY

We are given a 9x9m lot to build a 5 storey tower in which relates to both the design brief and the brief that we create for ourselves.

This library follows a hierarchy of public and private spaces which is emphasized by an increasing number of posts according to the level. This hierarchy can be seen from viewing the facade.  

​

An array of wooden posts as the facade creates a uniform, inviting and calming effect while not being "flat".

​

I take much inspiration from both contemporary and traditional Japanese architecture for their use of organic materials and creation of spaces to achieve a meditative atmosphere.
